A video conference on Nov 28 between Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province and US body Fort Worth Sister Cities International, saw them hold talks on exchanges between young people, education and trade, and achieve consensus.
Han Liyun, Secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and Director of Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, and Mae Ferguson, President of Fort Worth Sister Cities International, attended and delivered speeches.
Other attendees included more representatives from Fort Worth Sister Cities International, Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Education, Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Guiyang Free Trade Zone and Guian Free Trade Zone.
Han expressed gratitude to Fort Worth Sister Cities International for its long-standing efforts in promoting friendly ties between the two sides.
She briefly introduced the latest economic and social developments in Guiyang. She highlighted over the 12 years since they became sister cities, Guiyang and Fort Worth have enjoyed close cooperation, working together in the interests of mutual learning and cooperation.
Han expressed hope of seeing continued communication and deeper practical cooperation in terms of exchanges of young people, education, and trade with Fort Worth, aiming for mutual benefits and win-win results.
Ferguson recognized the fruitful achievements in sister city cooperation between the two sides over the past 12 years.
She said Fort Worth Sister Cities International is willing to maintain strong communication and contact with Guiyang, continuing to deepen and expand their practical cooperation in various areas, with a particular emphasis on student exchanges.
She expressed a desire to establish an efficient communication mechanism through the conference to help implement the intended cooperation projects. She also invited a delegation from Guiyang to visit Fort Worth for further exchanges.
Other attendees from both cities also shared their respective visions for future cooperation based on their practical experience.
