Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, recently signed a sister city agreement with Rivera in Uruguay, officially establishing a sister city relationship between the two cities.
According to the agreement, the two cities will engage in exchanges and cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, technologies, education, public health, culture, and human resource development and training, to promote mutual development.

Both sides are currently actively promoting project cooperation in the fields of education, sports, and trade.
Rivera is the capital of the Rivera Department and is the most important border city in northern Uruguay. It covers an area of about 9,370 square kilometers, with a population of about 103,000.
It is about a one-hour flight from the country's capital, Montevideo. The city's pillar industries include forestry, agriculture, and animal husbandry. It is currently promoting the development of commerce, tourism, education, and sports.
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uruguay, as well as the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative.
The two cities will take the establishment of the sister city relationship as an opportunity to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, education, culture, and sports, and deepen their relationship.
