The Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) recently reported on the first Guiyang biodiversity achievement exhibition on its official website i-news column.
The report praised efforts made by Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, in protecting the city's ecology, which helped boost its international image.
ICLEI is a cooperation network made up of more than 2,500 cities and regional governments around the world. It is an intergovernmental cooperation organization with global influence and is committed to promoting sustainable development.
Guiyang became the first Chinese city to join in 2016.
The report introduced in detail the exhibition's five exhibition areas, displaying the plant and animal species that have been discovered in Guiyang.
Before the exhibition, Guiyang, along with Beijing, Guangzhou and other cities, began surveying and evaluating local biodiversity.
The report said that Guiyang will take the exhibition as an opportunity to implement the urban ecological strategy, promote the protection of urban biodiversity, and improve the diversity, stability and sustainability of ecosystems.
In addition, ICLEI sent invitations to relevant cities and partners around the world to participate in the Eco Forum Global to be held in July this year.
