No place on the earth has as many mega-bridges as Guizhou does.

Guizhou is the only province in China that does not have plains. Therefore, the bridge builders in Guizhou need to overcome various difficulties in the mountainous terrain, varied topography, volatile climate, hoisting, and transportation. And that's what makes bridge construction in Guizhou constantly set new records in China, Asia, and even the world in terms of spans, heights, and pier heights.

Liuguang River Bridge, 2001

The Liuguang River Bridge is located in the Liuguang River Scenic Area of Xiuwen county, and is the first high bridge in Guizhou to enter the record books. With a height of 297 meters, the Liuguang River Bridge broke the world record of the highest bridge set by the Royal Gorge Bridge (290 meters) in Colorado, USA, which had held the honor for 72 years, becoming the world's tallest bridge at that time.

Beipan River Bridge, 2003

The Beipan River Bridge spans the Huajiang Gorge of the Beipan River at the junction of Zhenfeng and Guanling counties with a length of 388 meters and a height of 486 meters above the river, surpassing the Liuguang River Bridge to be the world's tallest bridge back then.

Baling River Bridge, 2009

The Baling River Bridge spans the Baling River Valley and is adjacent to the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area. The bridge is a steel truss girder suspension bridge with a main span of 1,088 meters and a clearance of 370 meters above the river. It is the world's first bridge over 1,000 meters long built over a valley in the highland mountainous area.

Maling River Bridge, 2011

The Maling River Bridge spans the Maling River Gorge, which is a famous national 4A-level scenic area in Xingyi city. The bridge has a main span of 360 meters and is the first double-tower and double-rope prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge in Guizhou

Hezhang Bridge, 2013

Hezhang Bridge is located in Hezhang county with a central pier 195 meters high from base to cap, which is the world's tallest pier of a continuous rigid-frame bridge.

Zongxi River Bridge, 2015

Zongxi River Bridge spans the Zongxi River Gorge at the junction of Shedongguan township and Weixin town in Nayong county. Its main bridge is a concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) deck truss arch bridge with a span length of 360 meters, the largest in Guizhou at the time.

Qingshui River Bridge, 2015

The Qingshui River Bridge spans the Qingshui River at the junction of Weng'an and Kaiyang counties. The bridge is a steel truss suspension bridge with a height of 350 meters and a main span of 1,130 meters, the longest of its kind in China at that time.
