In March, the city of Guiyang turns into a colorful garden. Pink cherry blossoms, yellow rapeseed flowers, rosy peach flowers ... all these are convincing signs that spring has arrived. Join us to take a stroll through the beautiful sea of flowers in the Cool Guiyang.
Guian Cherry Garden: a sea of cherry trees awash with blooms
Covering a land area of about 800 hectares, the Guian Cherry Garden is divided into three zones. It is home to nearly 700,000 cherry trees that come in more than 20 varieties, most of them being early-blooming trees with white flowers and late-blooming trees with pink flowers. The flowering period spans from early March to mid-April. The garden is divided into many small islands by Hongfeng Lake which covers 200 square kilometers, including a water surface area of 57.2 square kilometers.
When the cherry trees are in full bloom, the lakeshore will turn into a sea of pink flowers. Flowers, lakes, small islands and tea gardens complement each other, forming a fabulous scenery. Walking down straight or winding trails through the garden, you will feel like stepping into a wonderland where flowers dance in the breeze like pink butterflies.
Kaiyang Scenic Corridor: a carpet of yellow rapeseed flowers
Guiyang's Kaiyang County is famous for its rapeseed oil. When the rapeseed plant is in full bloom, visitors will feast their eyes on a dazzling sea of yellow. At Diwoba besides the Qinglong River at Kaiyang Scenic Corridor, there is a flat field formed due to erosion and deposition by the river which surrounds it on three sides, forming a semi-circular big bend with a diameter of more than one kilometer. During the flowering season of rapeseed, the clear river and the flower fields complement each other, hence the name "Emerald Green Water and Golden Basin".
In spring, rapeseed blooms in the terraced fields of the Scenic Corridor. Standing atop a hill, visitors may enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea of golden rapeseed flowers embraced by rolling hills.
Yongle Peach Orchard: trees laden with pink flowers
"The peach tree is young and elegant; Brilliant are its flowers!" The famous verse in the Book of Songs celebrates the beauty of spring. If you want to view peach blossoms in Guiyang, the Yongle Peach Orchard, which covers a land area of about 667 hectares, is an unmissable place.
Since the 1990s, peach trees have been planted in Yongle Township in the eastern suburbs of Guiyang City. Every spring in the past three decades, the Yongle Peach Orchard would burst into incredible displays of pink blooms. Right now, the peach trees are in full bloom. The pink flowers and new buds complement each other. The orchard is particularly amazing when viewed from above.
The Cool Guiyang offers some of the most dazzling scenery you don't want to miss. Head outdoors, enjoy the charming flowers, and make the most of the delights of the spring.
