Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was listed among China's third batch of cross-border e-commerce pilot areas in 2018. Since then, cross-border e-commerce has become Guiyang's main approach to maintain stability in foreign trade.

During the past three years, Guiyang established bonded warehouses in Guiyang Free Trade Zone, customs to supervise the warehouses for cross-border e-commerce, logistical warehouses of air transportation cold chain, and an international land-sea railway logistics port.

Guiyang has supported local companies to establish 25 overseas warehouses in countries and regions such as the United States, Africa, Malaysia, and Myanmar and organized overseas marketing teams and supply chains to expand the international market.

To further boost the development of cross-border e-commerce export, Guiyang launched several customs supervision modes to reduce export costs and time.

Guiyang's total trade volume increased from 1.3 billion yuan ($204.47 million) in 2019 to 3.32 billion yuan in 2021.

The development of cross-border e-commerce also stimulated consumption. During the first three quarters of 2021, Guiyang's total retail sales of consumer goods were 168.5 billion yuan and the online retail sales were 9.63 billion yuan.

In recent years, Guiyang has launched various measures to support the cross-border e-commerce's development. Now more than 20,000 service items are available through the city's online government affairs service platform and the registration of a company can be done within one working day.

During the first half of 2021, Guiyang's customs clearance's durations of import and export goods were 17.04 hours and 0.63 hours, ranking nationally the sixth and eighth in terms of speed respectively.

With Guiyang's various cross-border e-commerce trade centers, consumers can purchase international goods conveniently, and more products made in Guizhou can be sold to the world.
