Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, was invited to attend a special edition of the 13th Asian-Pacific City Summit on Oct 26-27. The meeting was held online in Fukuoka, Japan.
Liu Lan, vice-mayor of Guiyang, was invited to address a speech on becoming a carbon-neutral society at the meeting. Liu said that Guiyang has attached great importance to environmental protection and making the environment one of the city's great strengths.
Liu also discussed Guiyang's green development experience and approaches to environmental protection, peaking carbon dioxide emissions, building a green economic system, and promoting green development cooperation.
The Asia-Pacific City Summit was initiated by Fukuoka in 1994, aiming to expand cooperation between cities by sharing successful city development cases. Currently, the summit has 32 member cities from 15 countries.
