Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, held an online meeting with the city of Kitakyushu in Japan on Oct 29. Both sides discussed green development, industrial cooperation, culture and tourism, and friendly city relationships at the meeting.
Kitakyushu is the second largest city in Japan's Fukuoka Prefecture.
Zhang Mingquan, director of the Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, discussed Guiyang's economic situation and development plans for the next five years. He said that Kitakyushu has a similar economic structure and industrial development to Guiyang, and that he looks forward to cooperation in related areas.
Ohniwa Chie, head of the international department of Kitakyushu's city planning bureau, said that Guiyang and Kitakyushu have cooperation potential in environmental protection and big data, and that cooperation details will be proposed in the future.
Guiyang and Kitakyushu were both invited to attend the 13th Asian-Pacific City Summit on Oct 26-27. The cities took the summit as a platform to enhance exchanges and seek cooperation opportunities.
In the future, the Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office will closely communicate with Kitakyushu, screen cooperation intentions, and accelerate the launch of cooperation projects.
