During the ongoing 2021 Big Data Expo – which will open on May 26 and run to May 28 in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – Guizhou and the powerful international Shanghai Cooperation Organization, or the SCO, will organize exchanges to boost cooperation between Eurasian countries.
The SCO – whose members include China, Russia, India and Pakistan – was founded in 2001 in Shanghai city in East China. It is the world's biggest intergovernmental international organization with eight member countries, covering 60 percent of Eurasia's area that is home to 3 billion people. Eurasia is the largest continental area on Earth, comprising all of Europe and Asia.
In November 2020, the Heads of State Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization released a statement on cooperation in the digital economy, emphasizing the importance of digital transformation in the inclusive growth of the global economy.
It is understood that Guizhou will give full play to big data's leading role in its economic development, innovate the development of the digital economy and cultivate the core competitiveness of the digital economy.
The sharing of big data development approaches and achievements is expected to accelerate cooperation between Guizhou and SCO members, helping Guizhou to further open up and take part in the construction of a digital silk road.
