Guizhou Tyre Co Ltd, one of the world's top tire manufacturers, recently began operations at its production base in Vietnam. The company is a State-owned enterprise based in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The production base is located in Vietnam's Tien Giang Province and started construction in 2020. After a year of construction, the production base's 178,000-square-meter factory and 338 sets of equipment were ready to operate.
The first stage of the production base is a truck and bus radial (TBR) tire production line with an annual output of 1.2 million tires. It received an investment of $214 million and is equipped with Guizhou Tyre's self-developed TBR tire design and manufacturing technologies.
According to the company's deputy general manager Wang Kun, the production base will have three stages with an annual output volume of 3 million tires. The production line of the first stage was fully operational in the first quarter of this year.
As one of the world's natural rubber production bases, Vietnam is the perfect place for Guizhou Tyre to acquire raw materials. Exporting products from the Southeast Asia nation also helps the company to implement its opening-up strategy.
So far, Guizhou Tyre's sales network covers all the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. The company also established a subsidiary company in Russia to promote international capacity cooperation and further Guiyang's opening-up.
