A delegation from Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office visited Guiyang No 10 High School in Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, on March 30. The delegation members aimed to learn about the school's foreign language education.

School officials told the visitors that the school started to explore foreign language education in 2012. In 2015, the school signed cooperation agreements with Russian universities to participate in their international programs.

The school also signed an agreement with Beijing International Studies University in the same year to become a student-source base of the university's international programs.

The school started enrolling students for its experimental Russian-language class in 2016 and received a three-year support guarantee from Guizhou's foreign language education pilot high school plan in 2019.

The School of Foreign Languages of Guizhou Normal University established three doctoral workstations for English-, Russian- and Japanese-language education at Guiyang No 10 High School in 2019. Last year, the school opened an experimental Japanese-language class.

During the past five years, the school has sent students to study in Russian universities, with four students receiving scholarships from the Chinese Scholarship Council.

The delegation's members praised Guiyang No 10 High School's foreign language development plan, which meets the needs of the students, parents and society. They added that the program is significant for international exchanges, featured education, school development and student development.

Zhang Mingquan, director of the Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, said that the office and Guiyang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries will fully support the school's development of foreign language education.
