Guizhou, Belarus hold video meeting on cross-border trading

Southwest China's Guizhou province and Vitebsk Region of Belarus held a video meeting on March 11 to discuss cross-border trading.

Konstantin Cherny, deputy chairman of the Economy Committee of the Vitebsk Region Executive Committee, stressed at the meeting that e-commerce brings customers and producers closer, which meets the consumption needs of consumers and boosts economic development.

Cherny added that he hopes the video meeting can lay a solid foundation for future cooperation between Vitebsk and Guizhou, as cross-border e-commerce will become an important cooperation form between the two areas.

Yelena Zhuravleva, head of the Economy Office of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, introduced the basic situation of Vitebsk Region's administrative center Vitebsk city.

Zhuravleva said that Vitebsk is one of Belarus' largest cities and the industrial, agricultural and cultural center of the country. It has an advanced highway and railway system, and has been honored as the city with the strongest development potential and the most livable city in Belarus several times in recent years.

With Vitebsk's advantages in traffic infrastructure, Zhuravleva hopes that Vitebsk can co-establish a logistics center with Guizhou to distribute China's products to other countries and cities in Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Representatives from Guiyang and Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture introduced their areas and offered suggestions on cross-border e-commerce, tourism, middle- and high-end manufacturing, agriculture and education cooperation.

The representatives said they welcome Vitebsk Region's famous meat products, dairy products and shoes to Guizhou's market, and also wish to introduce Guizhou's high-quality agricultural products to Belarus.

Since Guizhou established a friendly relationship with Vitebsk Region in 2015, Guizhou Normal University and Zunyi Medical University have reached education and medical treatment cooperation agreements with Vitebsk Region.
