Guizhou attends Belt and Road Initiative Intl Youth Forum

The third Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) International Youth Forum was held online on July 15, with its main venue in Seoul, South Korea. Over 160 youths from 23 countries attended.

With a theme of post-epidemic international cooperation, the forum invited representatives of foreign affairs departments from China's Guizhou, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Gansu and Jiangsu provinces to provide an introduction to BRI construction.

According to Xing Haiming, China's ambassador to South Korea, regional communication is a major part of bilateral relations, and he hopes that China and South Korea can innovate in the exchanges of trade, culture, education, technology and teenagers, even in the context of epidemic prevention and control measures.

Liu Baochang, deputy-director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guizhou Province, said at the forum that Guizhou has established friendly relationships with South Korea's Sejong City and South Chungcheong Province, and has achieved great success during exchanges in various fields.

In addition, Guizhou maintains communications with South Korea's local governments including South Jeolla Province, South Gyeongsang Province and Jeju Province.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Guizhou donated anti-epidemic materials to Sejong City and South Chungcheong Province, and organized government officials who have visited or exchanged in those two areas to record videos to support South Korea in tackling the virus.

The forum aims to become a platform that allow global youths to have free and equal dialogue, and discuss key international topics from the aspect of youth, which can contribute to the BRI construction, and promote the development of Sino-South Korean relations.
