Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province and the city of Vicenza in northeastern Italy recently held a video conference on the novel coronavirus epidemic experience, which was thoroughly reported by Vicenza's media.
According to Vicenza's official government website and other media outlets, the conference marked significant progress in relations between the two cities.
Guiyang officials said the two cities will expand their cooperation in commerce, sports, culture and tourism after the epidemic.
The Chinese Embassy in Italy, as well as the Chinese consulate general in Milan and the Italian consulate general in Chongqing also reported on the conference on their facebook accounts, official websites, WeChat accounts and Weibo accounts.
The Guiyang foreign affairs office will maintain communications with Vicenza and start the process of establishing friendly city relations. Working teams will be organized to promote the cooperation and exchanges between Guiyang and Vicenza and other European cities.
Vicenza is located in Italy's Veneto region and is the industrial center of North Italy. It built a large-scale IT center in 2019 and has 35 percent of its goods being exported to Europe and North America.
Vicenza is also rich in history and culture with various museums, galleries, squares, churches and palaces built during the Renaissance period.
