The government official expressed his view during a meeting with Ran Peleg, consul-general of the Israeli Consulate General in Chengdu, on Jan 7. It was the the consul-general's fourth visit to Guiyang in the past two years.

This time, Ran Peleg said he looked forward to having exchanges on smart agriculture, science innovation, commerce, trade, transport and education with Guiyang officials.

During the meeting, Zhang pointed out that the cooperation between the two sides covers many areas, as Guiyang is pulling out all stops to accelerate its development into an inland open economic pilot zone through a number of measures, including improving the business environment and transport infrastructure.

At present, the city is dedicated to becoming a medium and high-end consumption goods trade and manufacturing city, and is hoping Israel can export such goods to Guiyang, Zhang added.

In 2020, Israel is expected to have quality agricultural technology enterprises and wine dealers taking part in the big data and beverage expos, which are two influential international events scheduled for Guiyang, said Ran Peleg.

Exchanges and cooperation in culture, tourism, trade and education will be promoted as more Israeli cities are expected to have friendly ties with Guiyang, and college cooperation, academic visits and various scholarship projects will be launched, Ran Peleg added.

The consul-general also suggested Guiyang establish commercial representative offices in Israel and direct flights between the two places should be opened as early as possible.
