A delegation of diplomats from 16 countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) visited Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, last week and encountered business opportunities in different areas.

The visit incorporated representative examples of Guizhou's big data, foreign trade, manufacturing, and tourism industries, allowing the diplomats to learn more about the province.

According to See Chee Kong, an official of the Malaysian Embassy in China and the head of the delegation, Guizhou has achieved great success not only in big data, but also in tourism and transportation.

The delegation is interested in cooperating with Guiyang on trade, big data, tourism, and education, and believes that both BRI countries and Guiyang can realize mutual benefits from the cooperation, added See.

In 2018, 237 companies in Guiyang traded with 63 countries involved in the BRI, and achieved a total import-export volume of $1.55 billion, occupying 45 percent of Guiyang's total import-export volume.

In addition, several Guiyang companies have contract projects in Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan, as well as investments in Vietnam and Mongolia.

Guiyang looks forward to investment from all the countries, and will keep providing an optimized business environment and services to achieve common development.
