During the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ireland, a delegation representing Southwest China's Guizhou province paid a visit to Ireland from Sept 19 to 20 to strengthen cooperation in big data and ecology.
Ireland, which is known as the Silicon Valley of Europe and the island of emeralds, has developed rapidly in the big data industry and enjoys a favorable ecological environment, boasting great potential for cooperation with Guizhou.
Shen Yiqin, governor of Guizhou province and the leader of the delegation, said that the two sides can deepen cooperation on investments, talents, technologies, and security in the big data industry. Guizhou will introduce the green technologies and industries of Ireland to promote green development in Guizhou.
Ireland's minister for communications, climate action, and environment expressed willingness to cooperate with Guizhou in technological innovation, environmental protection, industrial investments, and data security.
He added that Ireland will actively participate in the Eco Forum Global Guiyang, which will be held in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province, in 2020, as well as contribute to efforts in combatting climate change.
In addition, the delegation visited Meath county, Ireland, which established friendly relations with Guiyang in 2014. A forum was held to promote the collaboration between Meath and Guizhou in big data, tourism, agriculture, education, and environmental protection.
The delegation also investigated the national big data research center and the Confucian institute of University College Dublin (UCD). Experts of UCD were invited to the 2020 Big Data Expo in Guiyang.
