Guiyang and New Zealand colleges expect edu co-op

An education delegation from Palmerston North discussed and shared ideas on joint English language training with local college in Guiyang on May 16, 2019 and looked forward to further boost exchanges and communication between the sister cities.

The five-people Universal College of Learning delegation led by its CEO Amanda Lynn, visited Guiyang city, capital of Southwester Guizhou province, with a series of activities involving Guiyang Nursing Vocational College, Guiyang Ethnic Group Middle School, and Flex Lab. 

Guiyang Nursing Vocational College is the delegation’s first stop. They discussed and exchanged ideas with the Supervisor of Guiyang Education Supervisor Office Lu Ming and the Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Guiyang Nursing Vocational College Liu Lin.  

Lu gave a detailed introduction of the city’s vocational education development and Liu introduced the relevant situation of Guiyang Nursing Vocational College. They also exchanged views with the delegation and discussed about setting up English language training courses.

The meeting was coordinated by Guiyang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

The delegation also visited Guiyang Ethnic Group Middle School, where the principal and staff members warmly welcomed and accompanied the guests’ campus tour and observe classes. Students also played Lusheng—a reed-pipe folk instrument, and sang Guizhou folk songs. The two sides expressed their expectation on programs for both students and teachers to strengthen exchanges and communication.

Guizhou-based intelligent technology company Flex Lab also hosted the delegation and featured autonomous vehicle riding experience. It gave them a deep impression of Guiyang’s innovation in smart manufacturing and artificial intelligence.

The delegation later paid a visit to Guiyang’s landmark, Jiaxiu Tower, where they enjoyed a great view of the surrounding scenery and learned the city's history and ongoing development. That expressed not only in words, but also on the faces is the delegation’s affection to the beautiful natural environment and distinct landscape scenery.

The main campus of the Universal College of Learning is located in Palmerston North, a sister city of Guiyang. The exchanges and cooperation between the sister cities as well as people-to-people communication will be continuously promoted, according to Guiyang People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
