Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, and Fort Worth in the United States held a video conference on Oct 21.
At the conference, both sides agreed that Guiyang would select 20 outstanding teenagers to embark on a cultural exchange trip to the US in July, 2025. In return, a teenage delegation from Fort Worth will visit Guiyang in June of the same year to promote friendly interactions and deepen understanding between teenagers from the two cities.
In July of this year, led by Guiyang Foreign Affairs Office, five high school students from Guiyang participated in the 2024 international leadership summer camp program in Fort Worth.
During their 11-day stay in Fort Worth, the students attended international leadership courses, shared Guiyang's unique culture and cuisine, and established strong friendships with local students, broadening their international perspectives and enhancing their leadership skills.
Since Guiyang arranged for the first group of high school students to participate in the international leadership summer camp in Fort Worth in 2011, the two cities have jointly organized seven groups with over 120 students and leaders as youth ambassadors and city representatives to visit each other's cities, engaging in cultural exchanges and experiential activities.
These exchange programs have not only promoted educational and cultural exchanges between the two cities, but also enhanced mutual understanding among teenagers.
In the future, Guiyang will continue to deepen cooperation with Fort Worth, plan more exchange projects for teenagers, and engage in student and teacher exchange programs with partner schools in Fort Worth, offering high-quality exchange activities to promote the development of China-US relations.
