Guiyang and Gui'an ride on the momentum in digital economy

The development process of the big data industry in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area demonstrates that cities in western China are seizing opportunities to ride on the sector's current momentum.

Guiyang and Gui'an are deeply implementing an innovation-driven development strategy that is led by big data, and consider the digital economy as the primary driving force.

In 2022, the software business income from enterprises in Guiyang and Gui'an exceeded 50 billion yuan ($7.05 billion), with the introduction of 400 big data enterprises that achieved operating income totaling 3 billion yuan.

Guiyang and Gui'an are vigorously promoting digital industrialization and industrial digitization. Cloud services represented by Huawei Cloud are also rapidly developing, with over 85 percent of large-scale industrial enterprises having registered on these cloud platforms.

Guiyang and Gui'an have focused on grassroots governance and livelihood services by conducting pilot projects in data governance. They have created 30 typical application scenarios in education, employment, social security, healthcare, transportation, housing provident funds, and food safety.

This year, Guiyang and Gui'an will promote digital governance and data value realization, strengthen the construction of data sharing and exchange platforms, increase the online processing rate of government services, and achieve the unified management of their data resource catalogs. They are exploring the idea of establishing a reliable data circulation and transaction system.
