Gui'an promotes aggregation of big data firms

Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province, is vigorously building itself into a national computing power support base.

The area aims to introduce large-scale data centers and supporting projects, and continuously advance the construction of digital application scenarios that will drive the continuous aggregation of its big data enterprises.

"At present, real-time businesses such as NetEase Mail and Youdao Dictionary have migrated to the NetEase Gui'an Data Center. It is expected that 15,000 servers in the center will be in operation by mid-2024," said Chen Jin, the operation manager of NetEase Gui'an Data Center. In the next five years, the data center will connect 5,000 racks and 40,000 servers, providing stable and reliable internet online services for over one billion users nationwide.

NetEase Gui'an Data Center started construction on Feb 1, 2023, and was put into trial operation at the end of 2023. As NetEase's first self-built large-scale data center, the project will carry core businesses in various fields, such as the metaverse, cloud music, Youdao intelligent learning, e-commerce, media, and after-production gaming.

As the eighth national-level new area in the country, Gui'an New Area has leveraged its geographical and climatic advantages to complete and put into operation 10 data centers for companies such as Huawei, Tencent, Apple, NetEase, and Midea.

According to an engineering computing power guarantee report that was released by the Guizhou Academy of Social Sciences, the computing power guarantee index of the Gui'an data center cluster is 57.02, ranking first nationwide.

In regards to water supply, Guizhou Gui'an Water Co is establishing a smart water affairs information system. This system can automatically monitor the operation of the water supply, dynamically monitor the operation of the water supply pipeline network, and achieve a fully closed-loop management system for water intake, water transmission, water purification, and water distribution. This system is also capable of real-time monitoring of operations within sewage treatment plants.

On Sept 28 and Dec 29, 2023, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area held digital application scenario release conferences, releasing a total of 100 open digital application scenarios, 100 digital application construction scenarios, and a capability list for 67 Guiyang and Gui'an enterprises.

Over the last eight years, Baishan Cloud has been advancing the development of the digital economy, accumulating nearly 800 technology patent applications and more than 300 patent certifications. It is gradually growing into a globally leading cloud service provider.

From January to November 2023, the software service industry in Gui'an New Area had achieved a business income of 45.46 billion yuan ($6.33 billion), an increase of 18.8 percent.
