The first phase of the lithium cell material project funded by Hunan Zhongke Electric Co and located in the Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, has been put into use recently.
Zhongke Electric is dedicated to R&D and providing complete solutions for electromagnetic metallurgy, as well as online heating systems for continuous rolling.
Workshop No 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 have begun operating while No 1 and 7 are currently under construction, meaning production is running smoothly as usual. Construction of the main structure housing the living and office spaces has been finished, with the final interior decorations now being put in place.
Graphite powder is an important material for making lithium battery cells. As global demand for power cells surges, sales of graphite powder are expanding significantly.
"From the launch to the conclusion of the project, we are really grateful to all the government departments of the Guian New Area," said Xia Guangxu, a member of the company's financial team. According to Xia, the project construction period has been shortened by nine months thanks to the well-coordinated government services.
In Dec 2021, the new area's administrative committee signed the project agreement with Zhongke Electric, based on a total investment of 2.5 billion yuan ($359 million). The project is forecast to generate at least 3 billion yuan in output, and add 1,800 jobs for the new area.
