The power and energy storage cell production line funded by CATL – one of China's giant battery developers and producers – in Guian New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, involves a total investment of 7 billion yuan ($1.08 billion).
The production line was built in a phased manner, with the first phase now nearly complete. It is expected to be 95-percent automated.
The first phase of the production line is scheduled to begin operating in September this year and achieve 15 billion yuan in annual output and 1 billion yuan in tax revenue. It will also provide jobs to more than 3,000 locals.
CATL is currently laying out its 13 major manufacturing bases around the globe and already has five research centers.
