Real economy is fundamental to a nation's economy, and also guarantees people's wellbeing.

Since the 18th CPC Congress was held, Guiyang and Guian New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have been leading a five-year campaign to make Guizhou's provincial capital stronger mainly by rejuvenating real economy, cultivating new industrial clusters, and reshaping new development advantages.

Statistics show that over the past decade, Guiyang and Guian's economy has seen leapforward development, with the GDP topped 471.1 billion yuan ($65.44 billion) in 2021, nearly 2 times more than 10 years ago, and their overall economic scale has climbed from 22nd to 20th in China. Meanwhile, total retail sales of consumer goods have tripled.

The local industrial structure is being optimized constantly, with Guiyang's seven dominant industrial sectors – electronic information, advanced equipment manufacturing, phosphorous chemical industry, eco-friendly special food, new energy vehicles, aluminum processing and healthcare – developing at a rapid pace.

The manufacturing sector is heading towards the mid- and high-end level, with projects funded by CATL, COFCO Coca-Cola, Zhongke Electric and other renowned companies being built in Guiyang.

People's lives have been further refined at the same time, along with the city infrastructure. Focusing on efforts to build more 15-minute living circles, upgrade farm produce markets, increase public parking lots, and renovate shanty towns, old residential areas and city laneways, Guiyang and Guian have injected new vitality into the city governance.

Nighttime economy has also been flourishing, and a number of cultural districts, shopping malls and must-see spots have sprung up.
