72.5b yuan invested in Q2 major projects

There were 360 major projects involving a combined 205.87 billion yuan ($30.72 billion) launched at the groundbreaking ceremony for Guizhou's second-quarter projects on May 20. Among them, 62 projects valued at 72.5 billion yuan and involving industrial upgrading, sci-tech innovation, new infrastructure, city construction, rural development, agriculture, and cultural tourism are to be built in Guiyang and Guian New Area.

A total of 10 projects will be built in Yunyan district, 10 in Nanming district, one in Huaxi district, two in Wudang district, three in Baiyun district, two in Qingzhen city, five in Xiuwen county, four in Xifeng county, five in Kaiyang county, one in the Guiyang National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, two in the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone, two in the Guizhou Shuanglong Airport Economic Zone, and 15 in Guian New Area.

Guiyang and Guian saw stable economic performances in the first quarter of this year, as Guiyang registered 108.6 billion yuan in regional GDP, with the growth rate ranking among the top five provincial capitals in China. Guian's regional GDP rose by 11.9 percent to 3.59 billion yuan, ranking 3rd among national new areas.

Industrial output continues to increase and accounted for 26.9 percent of GDP – a five-year record. In addition, the number of market entities in Guiyang and Guian increased by 35,500 over the first three months, bringing the total number to 930,000.
