The 2021 Guizhou Inland Opening-up Pilot Zone Investment and Trade Fair was held to great fanfare on Dec 28, organized by the Guizhou Investment Promotion Bureau and the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce – both located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.

Officials from Guizhou Provincial People's Government launched discussions with more than 40 enterprises included in the Fortune 500 list and China's top 500 firm list. Staff members from investment promotion bureaus in Guiyang, Zunyi, and Anshun also attended the fair.

Xu Zhonghua, president of the European Chamber Energy Working Group, said in a keynote speech that energy development was following a low-carbon, digitalized and electrified trend. The energy structural transition, Xu added, was on its way to sustainability and carbon management was an important approach to help achieve its carbon neutrality goal.

Liu Guoping, chairman of ORIX China Corporation who has been to Guizhou many times, said he was surprised and excited by the groundbreaking development of the province, especially in terms of  infrastructure construction and digital economy, highlighting its great development potential.

Enjoying a sound industrial structure that features coal, electricity and drinks sectors, Guizhou is reportedly attracting more enterprises to start businesses there in its key emerging sector – big data.

Along with increasing demand for power cells in China, Guizhou's new materials and new energy industries are widely expected to usher in a brighter future for the province.
