Jardine Matheson looks to Guizhou for new business

A delegation from Jardine Matheson (China) Co on April 14 visited Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, to investigate the potential for investment there and lobby for doing business with the province.

Representatives from the company held meetings with senior officials from Guizhou in the capital city.  

Founded in China in 1832, Jardine Matheson is a diversified Asian-based multinational group with unsurpassed experience in the region. 

Its business operations include financial and insurance services, retail department stores,  engineering and construction, machinery manufacturing, automobile trading, transportation services, real estate and catering. 

The company ranked 301st among Fortune Global 500 enterprises in 2019 and it has over 110,000 employees in China. 

Zhong Jingyu, chief representative of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Department of Jardine Matheson (China) Co, gave a briefing on her company and explained the company's intention of developing operations in Guizhou, at a meeting with the Guizhou Provincial Department of Commerce. 

Tang Rong, deputy director of Guiyang bureau of commerce, gave a talk on the provincial capital's socioeconomic developments in recent years and its key industries – in particular, the retail sector, automobile sales, tourism and the hotel sectors. 

Tang said she hoped that the company would expand its investment and commerce in Guiyang and she committed that the local authority would provide a full range of assistance.

After the meeting, the delegation, accompanied by local officials, visited Renmin Avenue and Shubo Avenue in Guiyang to learn about the commercial development there.
