Guiyang, Gui'an build modern agricultural ecosystem for rural vitalization

Since 2025, Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area have focused on rural vitalization, constructing a modern agricultural ecosystem across the entire industrial chain to boost rural development.

Guiyang and Gui'an established 104 agricultural machinery social service organizations last year, covering 832,300 mu (55,487 hectares), with the comprehensive mechanization rate for major crops' plowing, planting, and harvesting exceeding 63 percent.

Moving beyond the sale of raw primary fruits, the areas have focused on core characteristic agricultural products to extend processing chains and increase added value, ensuring farmers share more in the profits of industrial appreciation.

The number of agricultural processing enterprises and cooperatives with revenues of over 2 million yuan ($290,000) reached 1,113 in 2025; 4.44 million metric tons of local raw materials for agricultural products were processed; and 35 major enterprises at or above the municipal level and 10 large-scale industrial enterprises were added.

The region continued to improve its system for protecting germplasm resources, deepened partnerships with the Yazhou Bay National Laboratory and various academician teams to establish the Yazhou Bay Guiyang Base, and planted 42,900 genetic material samples.

Guiyang has 37 major crop varieties that have passed provincial-level certification, over 9,000 mu of seed production bases, and maintains a superior variety coverage rate of over 96 percent, producing 45 million vegetable seedlings and 48 million strawberry seedlings annually.

Guiyang Seed Quality Inspection Laboratory obtained national-level qualifications, with high-quality varieties such as "Zhuyou Yuhe" achieving significant promotion results.
