Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province made solid progress in advancing modern, mountainous, and efficient urban agriculture, as well as comprehensive rural vitalization, in 2025.

In 2025, Guiyang and Gui'an recorded a grain cultivation area of 1.35 million mu (90,000 hectares), with output exceeding 447,600 metric tons and surpassing the assigned targets. Both the output growth rate and yield increase rate ranked second in the province, marking the fifth consecutive year of growth.

Guiyang and Gui'an treated consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation as the baseline task for rural vitalization. They improved the monitoring and assistance system to prevent poverty relapse, emphasized both industrial development and employment, and deepened follow-up support for relocated populations from poverty alleviation programs. The area took the provincial lead in fully subsidizing medical insurance for subsistence allowance recipients and achieving unified urban–rural minimum living standards across the region.

Focusing on building a demonstration zone for Guizhou's mountainous intelligent agricultural machinery equipment industry, Guiyang and Gui'an promoted the integrated development of research, manufacturing, and application of mountain-specific agricultural machinery.

Guiyang and Gui'an also prioritized strengthening talent support, introducing 418 industrial talents and attracting 1,230 individuals to return and start businesses in rural areas according to local industrial and construction needs. Over 10,000 rural practical talents were newly trained, 35 were recognized as provincial rural artisans, and 26 won awards in provincial or national competitions.

With a focus on building livable, productive, and beautiful villages, Guiyang and Gui'an renovated dilapidated houses for 235 low-income households, upgraded 1,600 livestock sheds, and cleared 430,000 square meters of abandoned walls and ruins. A total of 7,448 rural household toilets were newly built or renovated, 10 pilot projects integrating toilet and sewage treatment were completed, and 10 long-term maintenance pilot projects were established.
