Rural vitalization drives robust agricultural growth

Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province have made significant strides in rural vitalization this year, with solid progress in agricultural production.

In the first three quarters, Guiyang and Gui'an's total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries reached 27.01 billion yuan ($3.73 billion), up 4 percent year over year.

During the autumn harvest season, regions like Xiuwen county ramped up operations with advanced equipment. Xiuwen's Hongwei Agricultural Machinery Cooperative processed up to 20 metric tons of rice daily using two large-scale drying machines, reducing moisture to below 14 percent.

Across Guiyang and Gui'an, grain drying capacity now stands at 390 tons per day, ensuring timely storage of crops like rice and corn.

Meanwhile, autumn planting is in full swing. In Qinzhen's Weicheng town, mechanized cole crop sowing dramatically improves efficiency. A single machine can cover 50 mu (3.33 hectares) to 70 mu daily, compared to just one mu by manual planting.

This year, over 43,170 mu of cole crops have been planted in Guiyang and Gui'an, with mechanization levels exceeding 65 percent. This has laid a robust foundation for food security.

Guiyang and Gui'an will maintain growth in the fourth quarter by stabilizing grain production, optimizing crop structures, and promoting agricultural product processing to boost value and competitiveness, ensuring annual production goals are met.
