The 16th China International Seed Expo and the 21st National Seed Information Exchange and Product Trade Fair recently took place in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian province. The events unveiled various crop lists, with two grain and oil crop varieties from Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area selected.
Among the top 10 nationally promoted winter cole varieties, "Youyan 2020", independently developed by Guizhou Hemufu Seed Co, climbed to fifth place with a promotion area of 1.69 million mu (112,666.67 hectares), following its debut on the list last year.
"Youyan 2020" was registered nationally in 2021 as a mid-to-late-maturing cole variety bred through traditional complex hybridization and modern biotechnology. It is known for its cold resistance, lodging resistance, pod cracking resistance, high yield, and high oil content of 52.34 percent.
In the evaluation of core varieties of new national crops for 2024, "Zhuyouzhu Nongsimiao", exhibited by Guizhou Zhunong High-Tech Seed Industry Co and its subsidiary Anhui Shenggu Agricultural Technology Co, was selected for its high and stable yield and superior quality.
In recent years, Guiyang and Gui'an have steadfastly shouldered the responsibility for food security. By integrating and promoting good seeds, technologies, machinery, and practices, they have implemented projects to increase grain and oil yields, thereby enhancing self-sufficiency in grain and oil production and making significant contributions to ensuring food security.
