In late autumn, vast rice fields in Longbao village, Gaofeng town, Gui'an New Area of Guizhou province, are harvested, leaving behind short stubble.
Liu Wenhe, a farmer, expressed excitement, saying, "This time, we won't fail again. I have called back my former partners and my son."
Liu is the head of the Wenhe Agricultural Machinery Professional Service Cooperative in Gaofeng town. Years ago, he and several partners established the cooperative but faced setbacks due to a lack of farming techniques.
In 2022, hearing about government subsidies and expert guidance for establishing cooperatives reignited Liu's confidence.
Zhang Bin, a senior agronomist from the Guiyang Rural Vitalization Service Center, is the expert behind Liu's confidence.
"To counter weather impacts, we have employed various technical methods, ensuring a yield in the demonstration field of 1,261 mu (84.07 hectares), slightly higher than last year," Zhang explained.
In 2022, Zhang responded to the innovation and entrepreneurship initiative for agricultural technical personnel in Guizhou and joined as a member of the technical guidance team from the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs.
"This year, the yield in the demonstration field is about 100 kilograms per mu higher than that of farmers' self-cultivated fields. We hope this demonstration effect will boost villagers' production and income for the entire dam area," Zhang remarked.
