In autumn, the smell of abundant harvests fills the air in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province, as the fields paint a vibrant golden tapestry of prosperity.

With rice and corn harvest season underway, harvesting machines shuttle back and forth in the fields. Seed quality forms the foundation of agricultural development, with Guiyang and Gui'an introducing 18 measures to support the high-quality development of the seed industry, positioning the province as a leader in variety breeding.
Guiyang and Gui'an boasts 53 seed industry enterprises, 29 nationally-approved and 170 provincially-approved crop varieties, and eight protected new plant varieties.

Focusing on stable grain production, quality seeds, and market vitality, Guiyang's agricultural output reached 14.26 billion yuan ($2.03 billion) in the first half of this year.
Emphasizing grain security, Guiyang and Gui'an have demonstrated advancements in the development of superior seeds, mechanization, organizational methods, reform, and innovation. Notably, they've expanded demonstration fields by 302,000 mu (2,013.33 hectares) and initiated construction on 79,000 mu of high-standard farmland.
Anticipating a bountiful harvest, officials estimate a planting area of 1.41 million mu and a yield exceeding 447,800 metric tons in Guiyang and Gui'an.
