Stepping into the seedling greenhouses, one witnesses a seamless integration of digital controls, precision planting, and automated facilities.
The center boasts eight major systems, including temperature control, ventilation, and lighting enhancements. These enable the digitized monitoring and traceability of the seedling breeding process and facilitate mechanized operations like sowing, germination, fertilization, logistics, and irrigation.
Digital technologies are revolutionizing production methods, with factory-style seedling cultivation showcasing significant advantages over traditional methods. The most important benefits include labor savings, a five to 10-day reduction in growth cycles, and decreased use of fertilizers and pesticides.
Established in February 2022, the center is the most technologically advanced facility in Southwest China. It serves as a modern and intensive seedling production base with an annual capacity of 82 million seedlings, catering to 50,000 mu (3,333 hectares) of vegetable production.
Guiyang hosts 16 modern seedling bases that collectively produced around 530 million seedlings by the end of April 2023 and supported a planting area of approximately 210,000 mu.
