Laochang village in Xifeng county of Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province is the largest cabbage-growing village in the city, with more than 20 cabbage growers cultivating over 6.67 hectares of cabbages. It is estimated that this year, nearly 266.67 hectares of cabbage will be planted there.

In recent years, Guiyang has been implementing two large-scale vegetable growing demonstration base projects, creating 161 professional vegetable-growing villages, in a bid to increase soil production efficiency, adjust the agricultural structure, and improve Guiyang's vegetable production and supply capabilities. Laochang village is one such professional vegetable-growing village.

By continuously improving its infrastructure, Laochang village has hardened over 600 meters of farm roads and constructed two new drought-resistant water ponds, as well as repaired 35 existing ones.

In January of this year, the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs set clear goals to consolidate and enhance 666.67 hectares of vegetable demonstration bases, establish a 6,666.67-hectare vegetable supply demonstration base, and build more than 60 edible mushroom demonstration bases by the end of the year. The city aims to complete a vegetable planting area of 142,000 hectares, with a target output of 3.48 million metric tons, and achieve an edible mushroom output of 105,000 tons.
