Guiyang and Guian accomplish annual seed industry vitalization goals

The five major campaigns to enhance the seed industry in Guiyang City and Guian New Area have begun delivering phased results.

Guiyang and Guian have set up the first modern seed industrial park and innovation center in Guizhou, and seven national new crop varieties and 29 provincial crop varieties have been approved.

The "scientific research institutes/universities + seed industry operators + innovation parks" model has been developed, and the first phases of five industrial chain R&D innovation platforms for vegetables and edible fungi have been completed.

A special fund of 5.27 million yuan ($734,638) has been allocated to support the collaboration between key enterprises, academicians' research teams and professional researchers.

In addition, the government has released its 2023 plan for local enterprises in Guiyang and Guian applying for agricultural loans with discounted interests. So far, there are 55 companies in the seed sector.

A complete breeding and cultivation system for corn, rape, rice and other crops has also been put in place, and the municipal seed quality testing center is currently being built.
