The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recently released the 2023 national special agricultural product list. A total of 189 such products throughout China made the list, including Xiuwen county's kiwi fruit and Huaxi district's strawberries.
Guiyang City and Guian New Area have created a number of special agricultural industries, cultivated five special agricultural brands, and recognized 12 municipal special agricultural towns, as well as 164 "one village, one product" demonstration villages.
Xiuwen county has over 30 years of kiwi fruit growing history. This year, its kiwi fruit brand value reached 3.08 billion yuan ($429.04 million), as one of Guizhou's top 10 regional public brands of agricultural products.
"Huaxiaomei" is the brand for Huaxi district's strawberries. It came into being at the end of 2020 and has been elected as one of China's most popular strawberry brands for 2023.
Huaxi district has a total strawberry planting of 290 hectares, producing 6,000 metric tons of strawberries annually, valued at 300 million yuan. The industry has created jobs for more than 1,400 people.
Kaiyang county's selenium-rich tea is a geographical indication product. So far, the county has built one particular tea-producing town and seven tea-producing villages, boasting 52 tea processing companies. Its business has also extended from merely green tea to black, white, and oolong tea.
