The provision of running water to rural people is quietly turning lives around and creating dreams, according to those who benefit.
One of them is Chen Gang, a villager in his 50s – living in Yanglongsi town in Xifeng county, administered by Guiyang city, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province.
"Now we use tap water to cook every day and it used to be an unachievable dream for us all," the villager said.
"For the lack of a water source, people in the village used to spend one hour every day to carry water," Chen added, "we soon modified the roofs of our houses and collected rainwater for our daily use".
In 2017, the town launched a water supply project, involving 1,867 households in six villages.
After one year of efforts, all aspects of the water supply project had been regulated and it operated smoothly.
Things are changing for the people of Xifeng county, which currectly has 35 water supply programs.
But throughout Guiyang and the nearby Guian New Area, there are 3,192 such programs, involving more than 2.03 million rural folks.
