Since the beginning of the year, Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou province has been consolidating the outcomes of the city's fight against poverty while accelerating steps to achieve agricultural modernization.
"Ecosystems determine how well our economy can perform. The rural revitalization strategy requires us to create prosperous agriculture, hospitable living conditions, successful rural civilizations, effective governance, and high living standards," said Ma Xiao, head of the Guiyang bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, who also urged adherence to the "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" concept.
Statistics show that during the first half of 2021, the agricultural and rural economy of Guiyang achieved a high-speed growth, with the per capital disposable income of rural inhabitants hitting 9,818 yuan ($1,472.7), up by 14 percent year on year.
Ma also called on the entire agricultural and rural area system to adhere to a people-oriented development approach, advance mutual prosperity in high-quality development, and be a vanguard in the rural rejuvenation cause.
