On that day, Guiyangbei Railway Station handled 119,000 passengers, Guiyangdong Railway Station saw 22,000, and Guiyang Railway Station saw 33,000.

People traveling via high-speed from Guiyangbei and Guiyangdong accounted for 81 percent of the total departures.

A representative of Guiyang Railway Station said the passenger departure volume of the three stations hit 49,500 on Feb 17 but almost doubled to 95,000 the next day. On Feb 19, the figure jumped further to 122,000 before blasting past 140,000 on Feb 20. This set it up to blaze a new record of 169,000 on Feb 21.

Since the 2026 Spring Festival Rush started on Feb 2, the three major railway stations had dispatched a total of 2.66 million passengers from Guiyang until Feb 22, resulting in a daily average of 127,000.

Both the total passenger volume and single-day passenger departures reached the highest level in history for this time of year.

To cope with the peak passenger flow, the three railway stations launched additional D-series high-speed trains and overnight trains from Guiyang to Guangzhou, Foshan, Shanghai, Nanning, Yan'an and other destinations to ensure safe and smooth travel.
