Wang Rui and Wu Liping from the station management office of State-owned Guiyang Public Transport Co's Northern Operations Branch twice came to the aid of elderly passengers facing difficulties at the bus platform of Guiyang North Railway Station on May 18.
Crowds of passengers had thronged Platform No 1 at the station on that day. During a routine inspection, Wang and Wu noticed an elderly man pacing around anxiously near the edge of the platform.
After speaking with him, they learned the man was unfamiliar with the bus routes and had spent several hours unsuccessfully trying to find a bus to Huaxi district. The two staff members explained the correct route, shared travel safety tips, and escorted him to Platform No 2, where he boarded Bus B267.
Shortly after providing assistance to the gentleman, another urgent situation arose. A man in his 90s appeared alone on the platform and seemed to be in poor condition.
The elderly man was mumbling and unable to accurately provide his home address or family information. He could only vaguely recall his wife's phone number after some prodding. Wang and Wu comforted the man while contacting his family, and stayed with him until his relatives arrived to take him home safely.
