The Gaocang Wind Power Project in Xiuwen county, invested in and constructed by State-owned Guiyang Mining Energy Group, reached a major milestone as its first eight wind turbines were connected to the grid and entered trial operation on April 30, marking the opening of Guiyang's first wind power project led by a municipal State-owned enterprise.

The project is expected to generate an average annual electricity output of 177 million kilowatt-hours once completed, contributing approximately 11 million yuan ($1.62 million) in tax revenue, saving around 53,100 metric tons of standard coal annually, and reducing carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and other emissions by about 140,300 tons.

The project, which began construction in August 2024, has a total installed capacity of 87.5 megawatts (MW) and features 14 wind turbines with a single-unit capacity of 6.25 MW, along with a newly built 110-kilovolt step-up switchyard.

Despite complex mountainous terrain and difficult weather conditions, Guiyang Mining Energy Group advanced construction on multiple fronts. From site leveling, excavation, and turbine installation to substation construction and transmission line completion, all stages were efficiently coordinated to ensure smooth progress.
