In recent years, State-owned Guiyang Tourism Development Group Co has implemented measures to revitalize the Baima Valley Hot Spring at the Baima Valley Scenic Area in Guiyang city.

This natural mountain spring has a daily water flow of about 400 metric tons, with its water quality assessed as weak in alkaline. It is low in sodium and has low mineralization, making it suitable for both drinking and bathing.

It was titled as a national 4A-level scenic area in 2014. However, factors such as aging facilities and a single product format later led the hot spring to near closure. In 2020, Guiyang Tourism Development Group Co began its hot spring upgrading project.

"New self-service restaurants and a visitor service center were built to increase reception capacity. The hot spring purification system was replaced to enhance the visitor experience and comfort," said the person in charge of Guiyang Baima Valley Hot Spring Healthcare, Culture and Tourism Co.

Currently, the scenic area has upgraded 16 indoor and outdoor hot spring pools, 70 guest rooms, as well as three dining areas. It also features supporting facilities such as conference rooms, swimming pools, gyms, table tennis rooms, and archery rooms.

The hot spring has also launched traditional Chinese medicine healthcare projects, and has established camping bases, forest trails, fishing platforms to achieve the integration of medical care, health care, and tourism formats.

In March 2023, the scenic area reopened to the public and has gained recognition from a large number of visitors. Since its reopening, the scenic area has achieved a business income of over 2.62 million yuan ($364,122), and has welcomed more than 20,000 visitors.
