Transfer, sorting centers for waste begin trial operation in Guiyang

english.guiyang.gov.cn|Updated: 2023-04-14

A total of 17 transfer and sorting centers for household waste have been put into trial operation in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

From 2022 to 2023, 36 centers will be built and renovated in Guiyang and Guian New Area. The centers will have a domestic waste treatment capacity of 7,050 metric tons per day, and Guiyang Urban Construction & Investment Group Co will manage the operation.

The center is equipped with a deodorization system, compression and transfer workshop, and central control system.

As garbage enters the center, it goes through the deodorization and fresh air systems before being loaded into vehicles and transferred to the power plants for waste incineration and power generation.

Recyclable waste is divided into metals, plastics, fabrics and paper products in the sorting process, and is then compressed into blocks and passed onto downstream resource recycling enterprises to create recycling benefits.

The company will use transport carriages and professional transport vehicles to carry out refuse transport.

This will increase the previously small refuse transfer station truck load, eliminate the need for multiple trips back and forth, and reduce the use of old vehicle equipment as well as secondary pollution.
