Staff members at the Guiyang State-owned assets supervision and administration commission, also known as the Guiyang SASAC – located in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – recently increased their skills, to help them crack down on intellectual property rights infringements.

Guiyang SASAC sent employees on Sept 6-8 to receive training on combating intellectual property infringement, as well as the manufacture and sale of counterfeit and defective goods.

The trainer introduced them to the laws relating to the protection of intellectual property rights – or IPR – and briefed them on how to implement regulations and in various other areas.

There was a lecture on the Civil Code and experts also explained the Regulations on the Transfer of Suspected Criminal Cases by Administrative Law Enforcement Organizations.

Participants learned about Guizhou's work on anti-IPR infringement and anti-counterfeiting in recent years and they delved into the related issue of administrative law enforcement from the perspective of IPR judicial protection.

In a practical session, they learned how to quickly identify fake Moutai, one of the best-known Chinese alcohol brands.

A spokesman from the Guiyang SASAC said it will continue to publicize relevant laws, to strengthen the awareness of businesses of IPR.

He said that it will guide municipal-level State-owned enterprises to cooperate with industry authorities, to continuously combat IPR infringements and the production and sale of counterfeit and shoddy goods.

This would help clean up the market, protect the IPR of businesses and individuals and promote the high-quality development of State-owned enterprises in Guiyang, he added.
