In August, Geely's first all-electric SUV from the Galaxy series was launched in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province. The assembly and battery pack were completed in Guanshanhu district. This marks the first electric vehicle produced at Geely's Guanshanhu manufacturing base. The SUV's success has stimulated the entire automotive supply chain, with over 20 local suppliers operating at full capacity.
Guanshanhu Modern Manufacturing Industrial Park has attracted 27 auto parts companies, contributing to an industrial output of 2.58 billion yuan ($365 million) in the first half of 2023. This accounts for 31.65 percent of the district's total industrial output, positioning the park as a key player in Guizhou's industrial development.
To reduce reliance on a single industry, Guanshanhu is fostering a dual-sector approach: the primary focus is on automotive electronics and intelligent manufacturing, while a secondary sector centers around eco-friendly food production. Guanshanhu aims to boost its industrial economy by using its established automotive base to attract companies in emerging industries like industrial robotics and new energy vehicles.
With the opening of the Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industrial Park in May, Guanshanhu continues to attract major companies and enhance the industrial ecosystem. The district is positioning itself as a regional leader in diversified industrial growth, securing its role as a major growth engine in Guizhou province.
