Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area – situated in Southwest China's Guizhou province – have demonstrated really robust industrial growth so far in 2024, with the industrial sector's contribution to economic development reaching 38.9 percent in the first half of the year.

It's estimated that the manufacturing sector accounted for 20.7 percent of the city's GDP in the six months – further consolidating industrial growth as a primary economic driver.

Both Guiyang and Gui'an are now accelerating efforts to build a modern industrial system through innovation and sustainable development. In the wake of their "Industrial Strong City" strategy, the two have focused on strengthening industrial foundations, improving structures and increasing efficiency.

This includes ensuring the supply of essential resources – such as land, housing, people, power and financing – are readily on hand to support industrial growth.

Key projects, like those involving manufacturer Geely Auto, have contributed significantly to the progress. The city's high-tech, smart and green industrial targets have driven the expansion of its seven major industries – pushing for digital transformation in the auto sector.

Over the past five years, the growth rate of large-scale industrial enterprises in Guiyang and Gui'an has consistently outpaced GDP growth, with a record increase of 6.4 percent to date in 2024.

Overall, this industrial advancement is said to mark a pivotal step toward achieving high-quality economic development.
