Gui'an New Area in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Sept 2 inaugurated the Gui'an New Area Robot Innovation Park – a key project in the East Data, West Computing initiative.

The park, located on the south side of Jing'an Avenue in Gui'an New Area, marks the first phase of a major computing industry cluster, with a total investment of 13.85 billion yuan ($1.95 billion) and a planned area of 840 mu (56 hectares).

The park will be developed in phases that each focus on integrating the digital economy, scientific innovation and smart manufacturing.

It aims to create a high-end, intelligent and green computing industry hub. The facility features comprehensive infrastructure – including water, electricity, roads, gas and communications networks – and has 99 staff apartments to accommodate up to 300 residents.

Gui'an New Area Robot Innovation Park is a collaborative project between Guizhou Gui'an Development Group Co and CEC Optics Valley.

It is a major provincial engineering project supported by local government policy and is also the first nationwide initiative to integrate cloud computing, data and networks.

The park consists of 23 buildings divided into three zones: Zone A for data annotation and computing services, Zone B for medium-sized manufacturing and electronics information production and Zone C for large-scale production related to photovoltaic storage and semiconductors lighting.
