Baiyun district of Guiyang – capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province – is picking up the pace of its industrial growth by driving digital transformation among local businesses.

By investing in technological upgrades, the companies are raising their levels of efficiency, reducing costs and are embracing smart manufacturing.

In the district, a top instrument manufacturer has integrated logistics robots into its operations, cutting the workforce by two thirds while doubling production capacity.

The company's digital factory overhaul has expanded its product range from engineering machinery to agricultural and special machinery, serving markets nationwide.

Similarly, CRRC Guiyang Vehicle Co has revamped its maintenance base with automated systems. Previously able to service 50 railway bogies daily, the facility now handles 70, thanks to smart technology improvements.

Overall, the new digital platform has automated data collection and reduced the repairs cycle by 20 percent, boosting overall capacity and productivity.

This year, plans are for Baiyun to initiate digital upgrades for 49 more companies, joining the 33 already modernizing their operations.

The district aims for a 90-percent digital transformation rate among large industrial enterprises by 2024 – reflecting its commitment to enhancing industrial quality and efficiency through digital innovations.
