A new material project with a total investment of about 2.05 billion yuan ($285 million) has settled in Gui'an New Area, Southwest China's Guizhou province.

The signing ceremony for the investment cooperation agreement between Gui'an New Area and Qingdao Zhongke Hualian New Materials Co was recently held. This marks the beginnings of a strategic collaboration between the two parties regarding the high-performance lithium battery diaphragm and online coating project, which is set to inject new impetus into the development of Gui'an New Area's entire industrial chain for new energy vehicle batteries and materials.

Zhongke Hualian New Materials Co, based in Qingdao in East China's Shandong province, independently develops ultra-high-strength and ultra-thin lithium battery diaphragms, which leads globally in terms of performance. It is the only domestic manufacturer capable of providing complete sets of equipment for lithium battery diaphragms.

The project will cover an area of 140 mu (9.3 hectares), with an expected annual production capacity of 1 billion square meters.

The project is expected to further drive the development of Gui'an's new energy vehicle, battery, and material industry chains, thus strengthening its supply chain and extending its value chain. The new area will establish a dedicated task force to jointly promote the project's expedited construction in order to achieve early production.
